Learning Outcomes

Students completing the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Recreation and Sport Management are expected to:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the historical, theoretical, and philosophical foundations of recreation, sport, and leisure services. (Historical and Theoretical Foundations)

  2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of recreation and sports management principles, including facility operations, event planning, marketing, and risk management. (Management Principles)

  3. Apply ethical principles, Christian worldview, and professional standards to challenges in recreation and sports settings. (Ethical and Professional Principles)

  4. Exhibit strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills to engage with stakeholders, build community partnerships, and effectively manage team dynamics. (Communication Skills)

Concentrations

Students may choose at least one concentration; concentrations vary in credit hours. Courses in each concentration are unique. Duplicate course credit will not be applied among concentrations. Completion of concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.

Electives

In addition to core curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for most bachelor's degrees, including elective coursework.
