EDUC 2131 Adverse Childhood Experiences and the Diverse Learner

This course explores Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) including abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction, and the impact on learning capacity. Using theory, research, case studies, and practical applications, students grasp the effect of ACEs on mental health, physical health, and social well-being of diverse learners. Topics cover neuroscience, epigenetics, original ACEs research, and strategies to foster resilience and minimize adverse effects.
