NURS 2584 Psychosocial Nursing
This course integrates psychosocial nursing theory and clinical experiences focused on the care of individuals experiencing mental health disorders across the lifespan. Students examine the assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions used in mental health nursing, including therapeutic modalities, crisis intervention strategies, and the influence of social determinants of health on mental well-being. Through supervised clinical experiences in inpatient, outpatient, and/or community-based mental health settings, students apply psychosocial nursing principles while practicing therapeutic communication, participating in interprofessional collaboration, and delivering safe, patient-centered care from a Christian worldview. Emphasis is placed on empathy, ethical practice, and culturally responsive care for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. This course is comprised of 45 hours of lecture instruction and 45 hours of clinical experience.
