NURS 2046 Nursing I

This introductory nursing course integrates foundational theory, laboratory learning, and introductory clinical experiences to support the development of professional nursing practice and basic patient care across the lifespan. Students explore fundamental concepts including health promotion, the nursing process, health assessment, common health alterations, and evidence-based interventions for diverse populations. Students apply theoretical knowledge through simulated and supervised clinical activities while practicing progressively complex nursing skills from a Christian worldview. Emphasis is placed on developing clinical judgment, critical thinking, therapeutic communication, and the professional responsibilities of the registered nurse to provide safe, holistic, and patient-centered care in a variety of healthcare settings. This course is comprised of 45 hours of lecture instruction and 90 hours of laboratory instruction, and 45 hours of clinical experience.
