PSYC 2713 Counseling Theory and Practice

The Counseling: Theory and Practice course provides an in-depth exploration of major counseling theories and their application in professional practice. Students will examine foundational approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused therapy, among others. The course emphasizes the integration of theory with practical counseling skills, such as active listening, empathy, assessment, and intervention strategies. This course prepares students for careers in counseling, social work, psychology, and human services by equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in effective client support.
