PSYC 2743 Crisis Intervention
An introduction to the principles, strategies, and techniques used to assist individuals, families, and communities experiencing crises. Students will examine various types of crises, including those related to trauma, mental health emergencies, natural disasters, domestic violence, grief and loss, and suicide prevention while learning evidence-based intervention models and practical approaches to de-escalation, assessment, and referral. Students will also explore the importance of immediate response, effective communication, and ethical decision-making in high-stress situations.
