NURS 3564 Community Nursing
his course integrates theory and clinical experiences focused on the principles of community and public health nursing, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and population-focused care. Students explore the role of the nurse in addressing health disparities, environmental health concerns, and disaster preparedness within diverse communities from a Christian worldview. Through supervised clinical experiences in community settings such as health departments, schools, home health agencies, and community clinics, students apply public health nursing principles while participating in health screenings, education programs, and population-based interventions. Emphasis is placed on cultural competence, advocacy, interprofessional collaboration, and partnerships that promote the health and well-being of diverse populations. This course is comprised of 45 hours of lecture instruction and 45 hours of clinical experience.
